36th National President
Michael L. Kinloch is a seasoned civic and organizational leader with a proven track record of
coordinating large-scale initiatives that strengthen communities and foster professional
development. He is the 36th President of the National Pan Hellenic Council. He served as the 25th
Northern Province Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.(2021-2025), and as Vice
Chairman of the National Council of Province Polemarchs (2023-2025). Michael also served as
the first president of the Northern Province Diamond Achievement Foundation (2017–2021). He
is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the Northern Province. He was
initiated at the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., South Carolina State
University in 1978. Michael is also a Life Member of South Carolina State University Alumni
Association.
During his tenure as the Northern Province Polemarch, he led province-wide programs including
the Northern Province Day of Service, the Room to Read initiative, and the State Legislative Day
in partnership with the Divine Nine, NAACP, and Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical
engineering technology from South Carolina State University, a master’s degree in
manufacturing engineering from Eastern Michigan University, and an MBA from The University
of Detroit Mercy. He dedicated 42 years of service to General Motors, culminating as an
Engineering Group Manager, where he led global product development teams, coordinated
complex engineering programs, and consistently delivered projects on time and within quality
standards. His professional experience demonstrates a unique ability to lead cross-functional
teams, manage multi-stakeholder initiatives, and achieve measurable outcomes on a national and
international scale.
He has also contributed extensively to civic and community organizations. He has served on the
boards of the NAACP-Ypsilanti Branch, the Wayne-Westland Youth Athletic Association, and
the South Carolina State University Advisory Council. His leadership in these organizations
reflects his longstanding commitment to youth development, civic engagement, and strategic
community partnerships.
Within Kappa Alpha Psi, he held leadership roles at the local chapter, provincial, and national
levels. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Northern Province Robert
L. Gordon Achievement Award, Northern Province Brother of the Year Award and a Lifetime
Achievement Award from his local chapter. These honors reflect not only his dedication to the
fraternity but also his broader impact in cultivating leadership, service, and achievement across
communities.
He resides in Canton, Michigan, with his wife, M. Elaine Kinloch. Together, they are proud
parents of two sons, Ramon and Tyler, who are also members of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
and grandparents to Tyson and Jace. The family actively participates in Triumph Church
Ministries in Northville, Michigan. Michael attributes his success to disciplined leadership, a
commitment to service, and faith in God’s guidance.
